PMC Awaits 41 Zika Virus Reports from Pregnant Women, Plans Hospital Meeting on Monday
The Pune Municipal Corporation( PMC) is awaiting the results of 41 samples of pregnant women collected from areas where Zika contagion infection cases were detected. These samples have been transferred to the National Institute of Virology( NIV) for testing. The PMC has reported six cases of Zika contagion infection so far, with two pregnant women testing positive for the infection.
Surveillance and Containment sweats
The PMC has stepped up surveillance conditioning across Zones 3 and 4, including areas of Warje, Karve Nagar, Sinhagad Road, Hadapsar, Wanowrie, and Mundwa. The health department has linked mosquito parentage spots at 246 homes and issued notices to defaulters, levying a forfeiture of Rs 66,800. The PMC has also conducted fogging conditioning in both Erandwane and Mundhwa areas.
Hospital Meeting and Antenatal Screening
A meeting has been planned with croakers of major hospitals on Monday to warn clinicians about the Zika contagion and its association with microcephaly and neurological consequences in the fetus of affected pregnant women. The PMC has instructed health installations to screen pregnant women for Zika contagion infection and cover the growth of the fetus.
Private Hospitals and Zika Testing
Private hospitals in Pune have been directed to test fever cases and awaiting maters for Zika contagion infection. The PMC has transferred 16 samples of suspected cases, including nine pregnant women from Mundhwa and three from Kothrud, to NIV for testing. The PMC has also entered reports of three cases who have tested positive for Zika contagion infection from private laboratories.
Public mindfulness and preventives
Residers in the affected areas have been advised to empty water holders, air coolers, and insure that there are no mosquito parentage spots within their homes. The PMC has also appealed to citizens to take preventives to avoid mosquito mouthfuls and cover their health for any symptoms of Zika.
Zika Contagion Symptoms and Consequences
Zika contagion symptoms are mild and short- term, but they can have serious consequences during gestation, creating problems similar as microcephaly and other natural deformations in the child. The contagion can be transmitted by mosquito mouthfuls, sexual contact, mama – to- fetus during gestation, blood transfusion, and organ donation.
Conclusion
The PMC is taking a visionary approach to contain the spread of Zika contagion infection in Pune, fastening on prenatal webbing of pregnant women and surveillance conditioning across affected areas. The pot is working nearly with health authorities to track and contain the spread of the contagion, prompting citizens to follow guidelines and take necessary preventives to help farther spread.
