Apple is expected to release four models in 2025: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the new iPhone 17 Air. Some say Apple might drop the “Plus” model for a slim device like the Galaxy S25 Edge.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will keep their screen sizes from last year. This means we’ll see 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch OLED screens. The iPhone 17 Air will have a 6.6-inch screen. The vanilla iPhone 17 might get a 6.3-inch screen to match the Pro models.
Rumors suggest the iPhone 17 Air will be priced between the Pro and Pro Max. All models, including the vanilla iPhone 17, will have ProMotion displays. This means even the basic model will have a 120Hz refresh rate.
Apple might switch from titanium to aluminium for the Pro models for better durability. The Pro models could have a new camera design, similar to the Google Pixel. This design change might also appear in other models.
Apple is working on a 24MP selfie camera for all models. The Pro models will have a 48MP telephoto sensor. The main and ultra-wide sensors will stay the same. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be very thin, measuring 5mm to 6mm without the camera bump.
The iPhone 17 series won’t get TSMC’s 2nm chips. Instead, they’ll use the A19 chip based on TSMC’s 3nm process. The iPhone 17 will likely use the A19 chip, while the Pro models might get the A19 Pro chip.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to start at $899, similar to the iPhone 16 Plus. However, the vanilla iPhone 17 and Pro models might see a price increase due to Trump’s tariff war.
